How To Rate Doctors

Patients that decide to rate doctors are performing a public service. Learning about the traits of prospective physicians from past patients gives individuals insight and a foundation for selection. Who a person’s physician is can actually make a difference between whether they are healthy and whether they remain sick.
Finding the best practitioners by only the “word of mouth” method has its limitations. This is especially true if a person has moved to a new town or needs a specialist. While asking your mom for a good gynecologist might be a good idea, asking her for a good cardiologist when she’s never had trouble with her heart isn’t a savvy choice. It’s better to peruse websites where past cardiologists’ patients have posted about their experiences. If an individual decides to perform the public service of posting about their medical experiences, here are some things to think about:
Be specific: It’s helpful for others to be able to read about specific incidents in order to make a more informed decision. Give examples of why the experience was wonderful or not so great. Instead of saying “Dr. X is the best doc on the planet” it would be more helpful to say, “Dr. X really listened to my difficulties and was able to make an accurate diagnosis.” This specific information lets others know that Dr. X is both a good communicator and a skilled diagnostician.
Be professional: A review will have a lot more credibility if it’s written in a professional manner. No immature language such as “what a big jerk Dr. Y was. He really ticked me off!” It would be much more helpful to write “Dr. Y was very rushed during the birth of my baby as he had a golf date he was trying to make. This made me feel that I was an imposition on his time rather than his being a helpful participant in one of the milestones of my life.” Writing about the experience with a more mature tone will let readers know that Dr. Y may be a bit insensitive and ready for retirement.
Be concise: No need to go on for paragraphs about your opinion regarding Dr. Z. If a poster blathers on for half a page, many readers won’t take the time to peruse the commentary. Sum up statements in a couple of sentences and many more prospective patients will take the time to read your comments about the expertise of Dr. Z.
Let the experiences sit a few days before posting: A wise poster will wait a few days to think about their experience before going on a rant or praise-fest. Thinking about an experience will allow time for a more balanced version to emerge from your brain and keyboard.
Perform spell and grammar check on your missive: Poor spelling and grammar may take credibility away from your writing. Every computer program has the ability to check your spelling and punctuation. Use it and your opinions will be taken more seriously.
If you choose to write doctor ratings about your health care experiences, you should do it with finesse. Good posts are like performing a public service.
Individuals that rate doctors have a responsibility to provide accurate opinions of their experiences. For more information, visit: http://www.doctorreviewsonline.com/
